This is best exemplified in Down on the Corner, an upbeat song that carries as much swing and power to me as a lethargic ballroom waltz. The only highlight here are the harmonies in the chorus; indeed, they're usually the highlight of most CCR songs. Fortunate Son is better, as I can get behind the strength of the lyrics and its directness, as well as the drumwork here. The melody is neat as well, and it's very economical in how direct and quick it is. The biggest misstep here is a short break in the middle of a song that halts all momentum the song has for seemingly no reason.
